As veteran teachers begin to retire and student enrollments rise, the demand for teachers is expected to be strong. While the job does not command a huge salary, few professions have more impact on the development of children and young people.

Districts also are seeking to diversify teaching staffs by hiring more males and minorities.
Job growth for teachers should be about average. Other people, including retirees from the military and other occupations, are expected to round out the new pool of applicants.
